Hi, RevSpennicus here and today I’m releasing a new piece of software that I have personally coded. This is not a game, but rather a simple tool to assist speedrunners, specifically those who do target test runs of Super Smash Bros. Melee. The program, written in C++, allows users to tally up the in-game time of every character, which is summed by the program and then compared against whatever the current world record is to tell you how close you came or, if you beat it, by how much. Everything will also be written to an included text file, allowing you to keep a recording of your individual and total data. The program is still a work in progress, and I’m hoping to have a version soon that can work for all single-player game modes (with the exception of All-Star, as the IGT is tallied during gameplay). This program is designed for Windows, and while I’ve only tested on Windows 10, it should really work on pretty much any version of Windows since it’s very basic C++.
If you are a Smash Bros. speedrunner and you’d like to check out this software, it can be downloaded from my Google Drive. If you know of any other games that could potentially benefit from a similar tool, please leave me a comment below and I’ll see if I can write something. I’m currently studying C++, and I still have a lot to learn, so projects like these help me to improve my skills. Thank you for reading this, and have a nice day.
